Dan Rush has not only served his community for 12 years as an officer of the Snowflake-Taylor Police Department, he has served his country for 23 years in the National Guard.
Rush, his wife Sally and three children live in Snowflake.
Rush retired as Sgt. 1st Class from the 1404 National Guard Unit in a ceremony held recently at the National Guard Amory in Show Low.
“Dan proudly sets an example as a true hero to the people of the United States, Arizona and the towns of Snowflake and Taylor,” said STPD Lt. Joey Baca.
Rush was on active duty serving three tours of duty in Iraq, the first in 1990 during Desert Storm, and tours in Germany, Italy, Japan, Maine and Alaska.
In January 2003 Rush was sent to Ft. Bliss, Texas, for three months training for deployment to Iraq, where he served our country from March 2003 to May 2004. His last tour of active duty was nine months in Bellemont.
Rush’s daughter, Mary, is following in his footsteps, having just returned from basic training in Georgia. She is awaiting her deployment assignment.
