The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Valley Sanders Pirates 62-46 in a non-regional basketball game played at Winslow last Thursday night, then fell to the Show Low Cougars 56-47 in a non-regional basketball game played at home the following night. The Bulldogs record is 20-5 overall, and they lead the 3A North Region with a perfect 4-0 record.
The game with Valley Sanders was tied at 10-10 after the first period of play and Winslow led 31-25 at the half. The margin was increased to 44-35 in the third quarter and the Bulldogs pulled away in the final period.
Four Bulldogs finished in double figures led by Jevon Estelle with 18 points. Kraig Shirley scored 17 points, while Tyler Williams finished with 13 points and Michael Goldtooth added 10 for the winners.

The game with Show Low was closely played, much as was Winslow’s earlier 64-59 overtime win over the Cougars on the road. The Cougars looked much better than their 7-13 record would indicate, and the two teams appeared to be evenly matched.
The Bulldogs led by two points at the end of the first quarter, 12-10, and the intermission, 23-21, but the Cougars rallied to tie the game at 35-all after three quarters and pulled away for the win with a productive final period.
Williams led all scorers with 23 points for the Bulldogs, but Estelle was the only other Winslow player in double figures with 11 points and only three more players scored.
Rathen Ricedorff paced the Cougars with 21 points. Josh Weeks was also in double figures for Show Low with 15 points. Ian Zimmerman played an impressive game and scored 9 for the Cougars.
