Competing at St. Johns in a four-team multiple last Friday, the Roadrunners dropped all three of their wrestling matches.
Holbrook fell to St. Johns, 42-30, Blue Ridge, 56-21, and Snowflake, 51-19.
Despite coming up short in the team scores, the Roadrunners had some individual wrestlers do very well. RJ Alvarado went 2-0 and also received a forfeit. Drew Shumway went 3-0. Josh Hatch went 2-0 and received a forfeit.
Rueben Kee went 2-1, as did James Self.
Holbrook has several young wrestlers this year, and that youth caught up to them in this multiple.
“We wrestled well against St. Johns. Then our inexperience caught up with us. There were some close matches that could have gone either way. Our juniors and seniors wrestled really well. Reuben Kee had some outstanding matches and Drew Shumway avenged an earlier loss. The young guys are coming along and will make an impact as time goes on,” said Coach John Bokker.
Caleb McClellan, Kyle Lester, Paul Serna, Steven Bee, Clayton Hunt, Shem Bowman and Nikko Ferniza all went without a win on the day.
