Alice Betty Yellowhair, 56, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock this morning (March 2) at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Winslow, with Pastor Melvin Tsosie officiating. Burial will be at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
Ms. Yellowhair was born January 18, 1955, in Keams Canyon into Towering House People Clan for the Red-Running-Into-The-Water Clan.
She was a homemaker, and enjoyed knitting and taking care of her animals.
Survivors include her son, Dewayne Yellowhair of Winslow; her companion of 30 years, Felix Attakai; four sisters, Eleanor Eddison of Fort Defiance, Ruby Yellowhair of Sanders, and Betty Lou Kabinto and Anita Yellowhair, both of Winslow; two brothers, Dennis Yellowhair of Sunflower Butte and Hoskie Nelson of Winslow; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Begay Yellowhair and Mary Etta (Kabinto) Yellowhair; her brother, Benny Kabinto; and her sister, Mary Esther Nunsuch.
