The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to expect additional traffic delays on State Route 77 between Snowflake and Holbrook for the next week. ADOT is constructing passing lanes and is closing one of the traffic lanes during work hours to provide a safe work zone. Delays of up to 30 minutes are possible as workers start preparing the new passing lanes for pavement.
Flaggers and a pilot car are being used to alternate traffic through the work zone. Workers and heavy equipment will be working on and next to the roadway in the construction areas in preparation for paving operations, which are scheduled to start the first week of April. The delays will likely last through next week, and will be in effect again when paving operations begin.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, proceed through the work zone with caution, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
