The Wildcats of Joseph City were in Phoenix last Saturday competing against 23 other teams in the Bourgade Catholic Invitational track meet. Despite having a relatively small number of participants, Joseph City fared well against mostly bigger schools. The girls’ team placed 17th in the 23-team field and the boys’ team took 14th place out of 22 teams.
Sedona won the girls’ team title, followed by Camp Verde and Joy Christian. Sedona also won the boys’ team title, with Canyon State Academy in second place and St. Augustine in third.
Brooke Baldwin had a good overall meet. She placed 10th in the 100 meter hurdles, sixth in the 300 meter hurdles and 24th in the 200 meter dash.
In the 1600 meter run, Kayla Hughes was fifth; Annelie Hansen, 13th; and Deidra Hansen, 15th. Kayla Hughes also placed fifth in the 3200 meter run and was 14th in the long jump.
Kaylee Hughes placed 11th in the discus and eighth in the shot put.
Susan Normandin was 17th in the discus and 14th in the shot put.
Tori Baird placed 28th in the discus and 32nd in the shot put.
Justin Parisot placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles.
In the 100 meter dash, Justin Parisot was 16th; Chance Rush, 35th; Jaden Parra, 39th; and Daniel Hutchens, 47th.
In the 300 meter hurdles, Justin Parisot was third; Jaden Parra, 19th; Chance Rush, 20th; and Daniel Bushman, 21st.
Daniel Bushman placed 10th in the 800 meter run.
Daniel Hutchens finished 24th in the 200 meter run and Jaden Parra was 29th.
Daniel Hutchens placed 38th in the long jump.
Harrison Lorenc finished 38th in the discus and was 45th in the shot put.
