Ruth Ellen Boyd, 88, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at her home in Show Low. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Show Low.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1922, in Cotton County, Okla., just south of Lawton, to Edward and Bertha (Bearden) Tupper.
Ruth worked as a telephone operator and in photo shops. She developed and printed photos, and was very talented at hand coloring photos with transparent oils, but her greatest accomplishment was as a mom and grandmother. She was the glue that held her family together, and she will be greatly missed. She enjoyed crocheting and every time a grandbaby or great-grandchild arrived, they would always get an afghan from Grandma Boyd. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved sewing.
Survivors include one daughter, Louise (Eric) of Show Low; one son, Aaron (Gaylene) of Snowflake; nine grandchildren, Elise (Ed), Stephen (Ronda), Nicole (Glenn), Shawn (Maria), Melissa (Matt), Rebecca (Mat), David (Biz), Kira (Bill) and Logan; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 66 years, Richard Leon Boyd, who passed away on Oct. 14; and her parents.
Black’s Mortuary of Show Low is in charge of the arrangements.
