Holbrook cruised to an easy win over visiting Tuba City Tuesday afternoon, closing the game out in five innings with an 18-1 win. The Birds took control of the game early, scoring five first inning runs followed by five more in the second. They closed the game out on a strong note, scoring seven runs in the fourth.
Four Roadrunner pitchers combined for a one-hitter, with Javier Quintana earning the start and the win. He worked just two innings, facing nine batters and allowing one unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts. Blake Maestas pitched one inning with two strikeouts and a walk. Jesse Spangler had two strikeouts in his inning on the hill and Austin Lozano pitched one inning, striking out all three batters he faced.
At the plate 11 different players got at least one hit in the blowout win. Levi Reyes led the charge, going three for four with three RBIs and three runs scored, and also reached once on an error. Kory Koerperich was two for two with a home run, two RBIs and scored twice. Ilacian Johnson went two for two, stole one base, had one RBI and scored twice. Spangler was two for four with an RBI and scored twice. Maestas went one for two with an RBI and scored once. Caleb Layden was one for one with a walk, stole one base and scored twice. Ty Hatch was one for one with a walk, an RBI and scored once. Robert Jaquez went one for two, walked once and scored. Seneca Murphy went one for one, was hit by a pitch and scored once. Ryan Baldonado went one for one, walked once and scored twice. Lozano was zero for one, but was hit by a pitch, walked once and scored a run.

Holbrook is currently 5-3 on the season and 2-0 in North Region play. The Roadrunners won’t see action again until Tuesday, March 29, when they host Greyhills. On Thursday they begin pool play in the Estrella Foothills Tournament at Goodyear. They will play Buckeye on Thursday evening, then see Sedona and Snowflake on Friday. Saturday’s bracket play will depend on the outcome of pool play.
