After nearly a week off for spring break, Holbrook’s baseball and softball teams are heading into the heart of their seasons.
Going into this week’s action, the baseball team had compiled an overall record of 5-3 with all games counting toward the final power point rankings. The Roadrunners were sitting in eighth placing in the rankings when the week began.
They have 10 power point games remaining plus the Estrella Foothills tournament, which will be played this weekend. With all of their remaining games scheduled against teams from either the 2A North or the 3A North, Holbrook is in good position to make the state tournament seeded as one of the top eight teams.
The softball team has more work to do to qualify for the state playoffs. The Lady Roadrunners reached spring break with an overall mark of just 3-8 and they are only 2-4 in power point contests, leaving them ranked 24th overall. They still have 11 power point games remaining on their schedule with all but two of those against North Region opponents. They will need to win the majority of those games to make the state tournament, or at least finish in the top three of the North Region.
