Heading into spring break the Lobos split two baseball games, losing to Winslow on March 17, then picking up a win over visiting St. Johns the next day. As the break ended, they lost a road game to Payson.
Hosting the Bulldogs both teams jumped out of the gate quickly, with each scoring three first inning runs. Unfortunately Snowflake couldn’t keep things rolling and didn’t score again until adding two more runs in the seventh. By then the Lobos had given up nine runs to Winslow and were too far behind to catch up, taking the 9-5 loss.
Braccin Tanner took the loss on the hill, pitching 52/3 innings. He faced 27 batters, giving up nine runs, seven earned, on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Tryce Kelley pitched 11/3 innings of relief, facing 10 batters. He allowed no runs and only one hit with one strikeout and two walks.
At the plate, Dane Hancock went one for three with an RBI. Tanner Yellowhair was zero for two, but was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Tanner went one for two with a walk and an RBI. Trevor Reddick was three for three with two runs scored. Josh Kelley went two for three with an RBI. Garrett Larson and Ricky Montejano both scored runs in the loss.

The next day the Lobos were locked in a pitcher’s duel until the fourth inning when they pushed in five runs to take a big lead. They held visiting St. Johns to just single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings in the 7-4 win.
Yellowhair went the distance on the mound, earning the win. He faced 34 batters and allowed four runs, all earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts and six walks.
At the plate, Hancock hit the ball well, going three for three with an RBI, and scored a run. Tanner went one for two with a double and scored twice. Reddick was two for four with a triple and an RBI. Montejano went one for two and scored once. Josh Kelley went one for two with a double and an RBI. Hunter Petersen was one for two with two RBIs and scored once.

The Lobos returned to action on Saturday with a road trip to Payson, where they suffered a close 7-6 loss.
After giving up a run in the bottom of the first they regained the lead, scoring twice in the second. They matched the Longhorns with two runs in the third to keep their lead, but in the bottom of the fourth Payson scored four runs to take the lead. Snowflake tried to rally and scored twice in the top of the seventh, but that was as close as the Lobos would get.

The Lobos are currently 4-7 on the season. After playing at Round Valley on Tuesday, they will head to Goodyear to play in the three-day Estrella Foothills tournament. Pool play on Thursday and Friday will lead to bracket play on Saturday. On Tuesday they return to East Region play with a trip to Show Low.
