This year’s Pioneer Day Rodeo in Snowflake will once again have a rodeo queen. It has been several years since Snowflake has crowned a rodeo queen.

Beth Craig has worked diligently to hold a contest for three categories of Snowflake Rodeo Queen, which are: Little Darling ages 8-12, Teen ages 13-16 and Queen ages 17-23.

Applications must be turned in by Tuesday, April 12, and are available at Ray’s Wings N Thingz, 71 South Main in Snowflake. There is a $50 entry fee. Craig will be at Ray’s Wings N Thingz from 6-8 p.m. on April 12 to accept applications.

Jill’s Chick Retreat has donated hairstyling and make-up services for each contestant participating in the pageant that will be held on Friday, May 13. The horseman portion of the competition will begin a 1 p.m. at the Taylor Rodeo Arena with the rest of the pageant beginning at 8 p.m. at the Snowflake Fire Department, located at 325 West Fourth Street.

On Saturday, April 30, there will be a luncheon and auction to raise money for the crowns. Donations of auction items are being sought. For more information, or to donate, call Beth at (623) 694-1167.
