Goy Begay, 90, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011, in Winslow. Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock (DST) this morning (April 8) at Hard Rock Community Church. Interment will follow at Hard Rock Community Cemetery.
Goy was born in Big Mountain on June 12, 1920.
He was employed at Navajo Gospel Mission for 33 years as a pastor before he retired in 1985. He assisted in building the church and other buildings, as well. After he retired, he enjoyed ranching and farming.
Survivors include his four daughters, Lillie Whitehair, Lydia Gonzales, Juanita Begay and Darlene Luther; two sisters, Amy Goy and Imogene Goy; five brothers, Hosteen Goh, Herbert Guy, John Goy, Clarence Goy and Dodge Goy; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Begay; two sisters, Charlotte Lee and Susan Goy; and his parents, Bizadi Bekis and Ason Goy.
