Winslow High School golfer David Aberle qualified for the state tournament to be held on May 13 and 14 in Prescott. He shot a score of 39, best among the Bulldogs, and tied for best in the match with Tyler Apps of Payson. Winslow did not qualify for state as a team.
Payson defeated Winslow with a low team score of 170 to 210 for the Bulldogs. Mogollon, Chinle and Holbrook had golfers play, but none of those schools recorded a team score.
The third best score was by Andon Hatch of Holbrook, who posted a 40. Cody Besert of Payson was one stroke behind him at 41. Brandon Travers of Mogollon was next with a 42 followed by Zach Chee of Chinle with a 44.
The rest of the Winslow varsity golfers were Brandon Little at 52, Kelsey Gilbertson at 56 and Lane Conner at 63. Jacob Huddleston did not qualify.
The junior varsity golfers were Emmett Foster at 56, Kassandra Grabowski at 59 and Josh Vargas at 68.
