The Winslow Bulldogs split a doubleheader with the Scouts at Window Rock on Thursday, April 21. The games ended the regular season for the Bulldogs, who posted a 16-10 record. They will host the 3A North Region Tournament scheduled today and Saturday (April 29 and 30). The Arizona State 3A Conference Tournament will be played in Phoenix next weekend.
Winslow got an easy 21-6 win in the first game behind Johnny Woods, who allowed five runs on seven hits and four walks in the contest which ended under the mercy rule after five innings.
The Bulldogs had 23 hits in the game. Vittorio Sells and Chris Garrett were each four for five, with Garrett having three doubles. James Martinez was three for four with a double and a triple. Rhett Hardy was two for three with a double. Vicenzio Sells and Colton Corum were each three for five, with Sells having a home run. Matt Smith was two for six with a double. Jevon Estelle was one for three. Woods was one for five with a double.
Window Rock won the second game 12-5, with Sam Setalla taking the loss. He gave up five runs on six hits and two walks in 21/3 innings. Vittorio Sells relieved and gave up seven runs, five of which were earned, on nine hits and a walk in 32/3 innings.
Winslow had nine hits. Woods was two for two. Hardy was two for three. Martinez was one for two. Smith was two for four with a home run. Estelle and Garrett were each one for three.
