Karen Linda Bessinger, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011, in Show Low. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 4 o’clock this afternoon (July 1) at The Church of Our Savior, located at 5147 Show Low Lake Road in Lakeside.
She was born in Spokane, Wash., to Donald and Lillian Peck on Aug. 30, 1938. She had since spent time living in Fairbanks, Alaska, as well as Taylor, Apache Junction and Show Low.
Karen was a very active member of the Episcopal Church and enjoyed serving the church in various capacities. She also enjoyed spending her time knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, quilting, sewing, reading, doing ceramics, stained glass and playing music, which included playing the organ. She was also a teacher.
On Oct. 11, 1958, Karen married Richard Bessinger in Spokane, and they were married for 52-plus years. Karen and Richard were blessed with one son, Gene Richard Bessinger of Show Low, and one daughter, Vicki E. Bessinger of Holbrook. She was also blessed to have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband, Richard; her two children; three grand children; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, Myron Peck of Spokane.
Upon the death of her father, Donald Peck, her mother married Frank Crook, who was a large part of her life. They both preceded her in death as well.
Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
