The Little League Softball All-Stars tournament was held in Holbrook last week, marking the first time in Holbrook Little League history the tournament was held in the city.

The city’s improvements to fields and facilities at Lisitzky Park made Holbrook a candidate to play host for the first time.

“We’ve never had the right fields to host the tournament,” said Holbrook Little League President Kellie Spangler. “It’s awesome to finally have an All-Stars tournament play here.”

Four teams of 11- and 12-year-old girls from Holbrook, Winslow, Flagstaff and Payson played in the double-elimination tournament held June 27-29.

Winslow won last week’s tournament, with no losses.

Winslow and Payson, which only lost one game in the initial All-Stars competition, left on Thursday, June 30, to compete in the district finals in Show Low.
