Tod Alan Pooyouma, 42, peacefully passed away in his sleep on Saturday. July 30, 2011. Burial was held at the village cemetery in Hotevilla.

Mr. Pooyouma was born in Tuba City, but was raised in Holbrook, where he raised his family as well.

A 1986 graduate of Holbrook High School, Tod joined the 101st Airborne Division, Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, Ky. After being honorably discharged on Aug. 31, 1989, he returned home and worked several years in the construction field; soon after, he began his own family.

Tod was a family man, who loved taking trips with his family. Camping was a favorite activity of Tod’s. He struggled with diabetes and other health issues. In his family’s eyes, he was always putting in that extra effort to live life with his wife and kids. A tremendous loss to his family, he will always be remembered.

Survivors include his father, Allen G. Pooyouma; his wife, Fern M. Pooyouma; two sons, Vance D. Pooyouma and Tod A. Pooyouma II; one daughter, Lorissa B. Pooyouma; two stepchildren, Paige L. Secakuku and Vonn P. Secakuku; three grandchildren, Brianna, Andre and Vevaeh Lomaintewa; and two brothers, Marvin Pooyouma and Steven Kuyvaya.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna L. Pooyouma; and his brother, Larry Pooyouma.

Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow and the Hopi Guidance Center were in charge of the arrangements.
