Ken Evan Aland, 68, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low with his wife at his side. Private family services will be held.
Ken was born on April 2, 1943, in Driggs, Idaho, to the late Russell Nelson and Ileen Lovenia (Beard) Aland.
As a young man, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army during the height of the Vietnam War.
Throughout his life, Ken worked in fabrication in the aerospace industry.
He lived in Arizona for the past three years, and truly appreciated the beauty of the White Mountains.
Ken was well-liked and truly beloved by all who had the privilege to know him, including his mother-in-law, neighbors and friends, both near and far. He was a great friend and example, not only to his own family, but to the many children who knew his heart. This kind and gentle man will be missed by the many people who called him husband, father, brother, son-in-law and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Aland of Snowflake; four children, Robert Aland of Mound, Minn., Ana Cortez of Los Angeles, Calif., and Alexander Cortez and Adrien Cortez, both of Chula Vista, Calif.; two sisters, Bonnie Smith of Escondido, Calif., and Lynda Denning of Riverton, Utah.
His family finds great comfort knowing that his daughter, Staci Aland, who preceded him in death, was there to help him with his own passing and that they are now together again.
Owens Livingston Mortuary of Snowflake was in charge of the arrangements.
