By Greg Perkins–
Ron Tenney, head football coach at Snowflake High School, will lead a veteran squad onto the field on Friday night, Aug. 26, when the Lobos host Holbrook to kick off the season for both teams.
Heading into this week the Lobos had 22 seniors, 22 juniors and three sophomores on the roster.
The Lobos made it to the semifinal round of the state playoffs last season before being ousted by eventual state champion Show Low. Snowflake lost just three games last year, with two losses coming against the state champs and one against runner-up Blue Ridge.
With all that experience and a team full of returning letter winners, Lobo fans can expect another deep playoff run, although the new AIA format may place a few bumps in the road along the way.
Holbrook played well at times in their scrimmage on Friday night, but look for Snowflake to open the season with a big home field win over a relatively young Roadrunner team.
