Holbrook’s cross country teams were in Lakeside on Saturday competing in the Shane C. Morris Invitational meet held at Woodland Lake Park.
In the varsity girl’s race Col’Bi Nez paced the Lady Roadrunner team, finishing in 24th place with a time of 23:34. Miya Tom placed 33rd; Jimenesha Manygoats, 40th; Charmanye Yazzie, 47th; and Latanya Lano, 51st.
Flagstaff took the team title, scoring just 50 points. Chinle followed closely with 56 and Mingus Union was third. Holbrook finished in ninth place with 188 points. There were just nine full teams in the race, which featured a field of 52 runners.
For the boys, Kyle Chee led the Holbrook team with a 20th place finish in a time of 19:04. Melcomh Chee finished just two places and two seconds behind his brother in 22nd place. Bryson Keoni finished 28th; Mark Clark, 29th; Gregory Begay, 32nd; Zachary Tsosie, 36th; and Marcos Clark, 37th.
Mingus took the team title with 42 points. Chinle was second with 45 and Blue Ridge placed third with 71. Holbrook finished in fifth place with 131 team points. Eight full teams competed in the race, which drew 54 runners.
In the junior varsity boys’ race, Caleb McClellan placed ninth in the 57-runner field with a time of 20:20. Cody Chee was 22nd; Jimrail Manygoats, 29th; Dylan Hill, 33rd; Miles Begay, 47th; and Ian Qumyintewa, 55th.
