Holbrook’s chess team hosted a tournament this past weekend with some positive individual results, according to Coach Dan Mitchell.
Elinor Henderson and Alicia Rudd each beat more experienced players in their first varsity tournament. Ben Williams, Jacob Grant and Dwayne DeJohn each earned two wins at their first varsity action against higher ranked or more experienced players.
Justin Tapaha placed second at the junior varsity level by winning four of his five matches.
The team will compete at the Kingman tournament on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8.
