At the highly competitive 39th annual Doug Conley Invitational cross country meet held last Saturday in Phoenix, Holbrook Roadrunner Melcomh Chee ran in the highest level of the race. Chee placed 70th in the 101-runner field of the varsity division race, which was by invitation only.
Running in the open boys’ race for Holbrook were Bryson Keoni, who placed 38th; Theriot Yazzie, 39th; Marcos Clark, 48th; Mark Clark, 53rd; Cody Chee, 64th; Miles Begay, 87th; and Dylan Hill, 95th. The race drew 107 runners.
In the open girls’ race, Col’Bi Nez placed ninth overall. Miya Tom was 71st; Glenda Tsosie, 73rd; and Amber Yazzie, 79th.
The Roadrunners will host their invitational this afternoon (Oct. 21) at Hidden Cove Golf Course. The large meet with more than 18 teams scheduled to compete will begin at 1 p.m. Holbrook will also host the state qualifying sectional meet on Friday, Oct. 28, at Hidden Cove.
