Guillermo “Billy” Mendoza was born in Mexico on August 22, 1922, and passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2011.
Billy came to Winslow in 1944. He was employed by Santa Fe at the ice plant and later by Ames Bros. Ford for 49 years. He retired in 2002. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, of 67 years; daughters Linda (Tom) Herold of Phoenix, Diana Baker, Lisa (Clifford) Renfro and Kathy Mendoza of Winslow, Yolanda Mendoza of Phoenix and Alette (Paul) Dominguez of Flagstaff; grandchildren Andy, Billy III, Tony, Mikey and Maria Mendoza, Billy Gene and Larry Baker Jr. and Christie Klimkowski and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Mendoza Jr.
Holy Rosary and Memorial Mass were held Nov. 18, 2011, with interment at Desert View Cemetery.
