The Lady Lobos opened their season with relative ease last Tuesday handling visiting Cibeque 51-30.
A sluggish and ugly start by both teams, as is typical for a first game of the season, left the two teams knotted at 10-10 after eight minutes of action. Over the course of the next two quarters Snowflake began to shake off the rust, outscoring the Wildcats 28-10 over that stretch to open a commanding lead going into the fourth. Snowflake edged Cibeque in the fourth by three points to open the season with a 21-point win.
Natalie Elkins, despite playing limited minutes due to an injury, led the team with 15 points. Devrie Woodside added 13, Lisha Titus had 7, Brilee Coplan and Katy Larson each netted 6, while Tandis Yellowhair and Tara Nezzie each chipped in with two.

Seniors on coach Don Godfrey’s roster this year include Lisha Titus, Devrie Woodside, Natalie Elkins and Tara Nezzie. They are joined by juniors Brilee Coplan, Mattie Scott, Katy Larson, Caitlyn Christensen, Charly Flake and Kiana Natividad; and two sophomores, Tandis Yellowhair and Britlee Merrell, round out the team.
Snowflake will see plenty of action over the course of the next couple of weeks. After hosting Round Valley on Tuesday, they host Safford on Friday. Next Tuesday they travel to Blue Ridge, then follow that up with games at the Round Valley Tournament on December 8-10.
