Tansy Houghton, 80, passed away on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Main Street Chapel in Snowflake.
She was born on June 28, 1931, to Arthur and Leah Lee of Lakeside, the third of 10 children.
She married Reuben J. Houghton in May 1949, and raised five children, Ezra Lynn, Joseph Steven, Annette, Lucinda and Tammy.
She was a strong woman in mind and soul. She was very frugal, gifted in the arts of drawing, painting, sewing, quilting, cake decorating and music, and much more.
She believed strongly in God and the church.
She will be missed by many.
Survivors include her siblings, Lola Woods of Austin Texas, Ivin C. Lee of Joseph City, Jetta Carny of New York, Pauline Brewer of Show Low, Loraine Frost of Holbrook and Teddy M Lee of Taylor; her children, Joseph Steven Houghton of Arizona, Annette Phelps of California, Lucinda Dingemanse of Utah and Tammy Rice of Arizona; her grandchildren, Rebecca Houghton, Ruth Houghton, Rachael Houghton, Benjamin Houghton, Lucinda Rice, John Rice, Leslie Phelps and Kelcey Phelps; and her great-grandchildren, Lynn Wilkins of Alabama and Hunter Rice of Arizona.
Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
