The Lobos added two more wins last week, taking down a pesky Alchesay team on Tuesday, then dominating the Wildcats from Joseph City on Friday to push their overall record to 16-3 on the season.

Tuesday’s home game with the Falcons started well enough for Snowflake as the Lobos opened up a nine-point bulge at the end of the first quarter. In the second the Falcons pleased their usual large following as they chipped away at the Lobo lead to trail by just six points at the half.

By the end of the third period that lead was all but gone as Snowflake clung to a one-point edge. But in the fourth Snowflake fended off the Falcons to win the game 66-58.

“They came and played with a lot of energy, and their fan base always travels well. They played hard, but our guys were up to the challenge and played well down the stretch to win a good game,” said Coach Andy Wood.

Snowflake had balance on offense with Tanner Yellowhair, Chase Walden and Jake Shumway each netting 14 points. Reggie Peterson added 10, Rick Shumway and Dallin Merrell both hit for 5, and Doug Brimhall helped with 4.

On Friday night the Lobos jumped all over visiting Joseph City early and never looked back, winning the contest 80-32.

Snowflake led 10-6 at the end of the first period, then extended that margin to 44-18 at the half. The second half went much the same way with several Lobo players getting a chance to contribute.

Walden led the way with 17 points. Brimhall added 10; Braccin Tanner, 9; Peterson, 8; Yellowhair, Rick Shumway and Jake Shumway, 7 each; Merrell, 5; Dustin Baldwin and Ty Reidhead, 4 each; and Landon Godfrey, 2.

With the two wins the Lobos improved to 16-3 on the season and they head into this week 11-1 in power point games, which currently ranks them fifth overall. After hosting Show Low on Tuesday they will have a chance to avenge their only power point loss when they travel to Holbrook on Friday, Jan. 27. In their last meeting the Roadrunners edged them 73-72. Fans can expect another close game, as both teams are playing well. Snowflake will travel to Round Valley on Saturday. Next Tuesday they will be on the road at Joseph City.
