Residents living along Neilson Avenue in Joseph City were evacuated on Saturday when a resident called 911 and reported what appeared to be an improvised explosive device in the road in front of his house. Navajo County Sheriff’s deputies, Joseph City Fire and Holbrook Emergency Medical Services responded, and the area was cordoned off for several hours until a bomb technician from Flagstaff arrived and assessed the device. According to Sgt. J.D. Van Aller of the sheriff’s office, the device was not a bomb and it is not certain whether it was intended to represent a bomb. There are no suspects in the incident.
