She was born in Snowflake on Tuesday, March 6, 1945, to the late Jesse N. and Marvel (Bailey) Smith. She grew up in Snowflake, where she met her childhood sweetheart, Gerald R. Hatch. In June of 1967, she and Gerald married, and they remained best friends and business partners for 44 years. They raised six sons and one daughter while growing their business in Snowflake.
Ruth was a loving, kind, compassionate mother, sister, daughter and friend to so many. She loved to travel, cook, plan parties, but especially, she loved to spend time with her family. Her children and grandchildren brought her great joy, and they will all miss her very much.
She was a devout and active member of the LDS church. Among her callings were Relief Society president, Young Women’s president, Relief Society teacher, Sunday School teacher and visiting teacher coordinator.
Survivors include her seven children, Garett (Emilie) Hatch of Phoenix, Gentry (Amy) Hatch of Show Low, Robb (Mikelle) Hatch of Snowflake, Guy (Kellie) Hatch of Show Low, Ruben (Kim) Hatch of Chandler, Jessica (Seth) Gaston of Show Low and G.R. Hatch of Chandler; and 15 grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by brothers, a sister and a grandson.
The Hatch family is so appreciative for all the thoughts and prayers, and continue to ask everyone to remember Robb and Mikelle in their prayers that they may continue to make a speedy and healthy recovery.
Owens Livingston Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
