Proceeds from a charity volleyball tournament starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Show Low High School Gymnasium will benefit the White Mountain Safe House and cancer victim Zachary Hansen of Snowflake.
The entry fee is $150 per team. For a six-member team, that breaks down to just $25 per person. Entry forms are available for download at www.npc.edu/news/2012/04/ptk-volleyball-tournament and fees are due by Thursday, May 10.
Northland Pioneer College’s Alpha Gamma Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year college students, is sponsoring the tournament. Chapter officers Tabecca Schneider and Tashawna Jones are helping to organize this community service outreach.
The White Mountain S.A.F.E. House (Safety Against Fearful Environments) provides a safe, home-like environment for women and children escaping the negative and unsafe environment of domestic violence. It also offers guidance and referral services, helping victims to recognize healthy relationships, in an effort to ensure the success of their independent lives.
Snowflake Little Leaguer Zachary Hansen was recently diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Read more about fund-raising efforts to help the family at facebook.com/helpkeepzachinthegame.
