Holbrook was well represented with three teams in the annual American Cancer Society Climb to Conquer Cancer held Aug. 18 in Flagstaff.
McNamee’s March, Holbrook Hikers and the Holbrook Unified School District combined for a total 68 who ac-cepted the challenge of the 6.7-mile trek up Mt. Agassiz to the Snow Bowl along with more than 4,000 other partici-pants.
The walk began at 7 a.m., and included six water and snack stations along the route. Station 6 was Memory Lane, which included flags honoring those who have survived, are currently fighting or have lost their battle with cancer. Upon arrival at the top, the walkers received a chicken Caesar salad meal.
Fortunately, those participating did not have to walk back down as buses were provided for the weary warriors. The cancer walk was a rewarding experience for all as many comments were overheard, including, “Let’s do this again next year!”
