Kent Baldwin, first year head coach of the Joseph City volleyball team, was pleased with the outcome of last Friday’s three-team scrimmage held in Holbrook, and his team is looking forward to an exciting year.
The Lady Wildcats joined Holbrook and Hopi in a rotation style format, which included each team playing in split squads during one of the matches. This season the Lady Wildcats have 13 girls dressing for the varsity squad, including seniors Lexi Edwards, Searra Johnstun, Payton Tanner, Jacie Cochran, Johanna Black and Britney Smith, juniors Kristin Baldwin, Madison Fields, Brooke Baldwin and Laura Parra, and sophomores Krista Edwards, Brandi Cline and Shannon Mosier.
Joseph City opens the season today (Aug. 29) when the squad travels to Whiteriver to take on the Alchesay Lady Falcons. This weekend the team will be in action at the Payson Tournament.
Joining Coach Baldwin’s staff this season will be assistants Sheri Brennan, Cayla Fish and Jeri Edwards.
