Lodie Ellen Coochise, 55, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, after an eight-month battle with can-cer. Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Polacca. Inter-ment followed at the Coochise Ranch-Talahogan.
She was born on Nov. 14, 1956, in Keams Canyon.
Lodie graduated from Orem High School, then attended Brigham Young University.

Lodie was a member of the LDS church in Polacca, and served at the time as genealogical researcher and librarian.
She loved to shop, sew, embroider and most of all spend time with family, especially her nieces and neph-ews, many of whom she raised. She had an open heart, and always was willing to give and share what she had. Lodie had the prettiest smile.
Survivors include two sisters, Verlinda Adams of Polacca and Belva Linda Wahwassuck of Mayetta, Kan.; two brothers, Elbridge Coochise of Phoenix and George Coochise of Winslow; and many nieces and nephews.
