A two-mile segment of Interstate 40 Business Route in Winslow will be repaved on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 6 and 7, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The project was originally scheduled to start Tuesday, and will remain the same except for the date change.
The $470,000 improvement project will include removing a layer of the existing pavement, repaving the roadway, replacing guardrail and applying new pavement markings.
During paving operations, West Winslow Industrial Spur (I-40B) will be closed to through traffic for two days between North ADOT Lane and Kiva Drive. Detour signs will direct traffic to alternate routes while crews work 24-hours per day to complete the paving on an accelerated schedule.
Traffic lanes will be restricted and the speed limit will be reduced through the work zone while crews re-place guardrail and install new pavement markings after the roadway has been paved. Drivers are advised to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and person-nel.
