The Lady Wildcats of Joseph City posted three wins last week, picking up victories over Alchesay, Hol-brook and Mogollon.
Last Tuesday, the Alchesay Lady Falcons made a visit to Wildcat Gym and they were sent packing with relative ease by the Lady Cats. Joseph City won the first game 25-8, took the second 25-9 and ended the match by winning the third game 25-11. “We had played them just a week earlier and knew what they had. We came out and played hard at home for our first home match of the season,” said Coach Kent Baldwin.
The following night the Lady Wildcats made the short trip to Holbrook and picked up wins in two hard fought games, taking a 2-0 lead. Joseph City won both games 25-20. In the third game the Lady Roadrunners came back with a 25-17 win. Forced to game four, Joseph City started quickly and moved out to a comfortable 25-10 win to close out the match.
Their busy week concluded on Thursday hosting Mogollon. The Lady Wildcats jumped out early in game one, eventually winning it 25-13. After missing six serves in the second game and playing from behind, the Lady Cats showed a lot of heart in pulling out a 26-24 win. The third and final game went back and forth early, but in the end the Lady Wildcats again gained control, winning the game and the match 25-17.
“This was another good week for the Lady Wildcats,” added Coach Baldwin.
After playing at St. Michaels on Thursday, Joseph City will play Mogollon tonight (Sept. 14) in Heber. On Saturday, the Lady Cats will make a longer trip to Eagar to compete in the Round Valley Invitational tourna-ment.
