Shannon Caye Cederstrom Martinez, 63, passed away on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012. The rosary/viewing will be held at 7 o’clock tonight (Sept. 28) Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Holbrook. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the church.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 5, 1949. Her parents are the late Charles E. Cederstrom and Beth Romney Cederstrom of Lakeside.
The family moved to Holbrook during her junior year in the school system. She attended 4-H and learned to care for her horse Cricket. She was fond of the Navajo County Rodeo, and enjoyed participating in horse racing with Cricket. Her specialty was barrel racing. One year she was the rodeo queen. She loved all animals.
In Holbrook High School, she belonged to the Drum and Bugle Corps.
She married Samuel Martinez and had four sons, Samuel of Los Angeles, Calif., Michael of Phoenix, and Dustin and Nathan of Holbrook. Shannon had two granddaughters, the joys of her life, Morgan and Taylor. She had a brother, Craig, who is deceased, and a sister, Caron Mullen of Show Low.
Shannon was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She will always be remembered as being fun loving with a wonderful sense of humor. Even though she was faced with a medical challenge the past few years, she was very caring of others. She wanted the best for every-one.
Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
