Visitors to Petrified Forest National Park will be admitted free on Saturday, Sept. 29, National Public Lands Day, the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands.
At Petrified Forest there will also be tours of the museum collection, the behind the scenes museum storage area with many cool paleontological and archeological items. At Painted Desert Inn there will be a display of volunteer photographer Andrew V. Kearns’ photographs taken of the new lands purchased last year by the National Park Service. Visitors will also learn of exciting and interesting volunteer opportunities at the park.
