The ninth annual Winslow Material Girls Quilt Guild Show continues today and Saturday (Oct. 5 and 6) at Snowdrift Art Space, 120 W. Second St. Quilts will be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission to the show will be $1 per person.
The judged awards, special awards and guild awards selections were made last weekend.
Judged awards included Best Hand Quilting, which went to “Heartland Crossing” by Yvonne Ridinger; Best Machine Quilting, “Red Delicious” by Linda Miller; Best Applique, “Happy Little Flowers” by Nelda Shumway; Best Use of Color, “Klamath Falls” by Karen Smith; and Best Pieced, “Indiana” by Jackie Landis.
Special awards included Mayor of Winslow, which went to “Chicken Scratch” by Carol Fraley; Winslow Chief of Police, “Bargello Salsa” by Karen Smith; Winslow Chamber of Commerce, “Links” by Patricia Barnes; Winslow School Superintendent, “Wildflower Rhapsody” by Colleen McLaws; and Snowdrift Art Space (Host), “Women of Grace & Charm” by Yvonne Ridinger.
Guild awards included First Place Large Quilt, “Wildflower Rhapsody” by Colleen McLaws; Second Place Large Quilt, “Women of Grace & Charm” by Yvonne Ridinger; Third Place Large Quilt, “Links” by Patricia Barnes; First Place Medium Quilt, “Farmers Wife Sample Quilt” by Marsha Childers; Second Place Medium Quilt, “Red Delicious” by Linda Miller; Third Place Medium Quilt, “Wedding Ring” by Virginia Gonzales;
First Place Small Quilt, “Happy Little Flowers” by Nelda Shumway; Second Place Small Quilt, “Christmas Cactus” by Candace Simper; and Third Place Small Quilt, “Wild Hare Garden” by Linda Miller.
