The Holbrook boy’s team took first place at the Alchesay Invitational cross country meet held last Friday afternoon in Whiteriver.
The Roadrunners had three runners finish in the top 10, with Kyle Chee placing third in 18:17, Marcos Clark, fourth in 18:18, and Mark Clark, seventh in 19:22. Triston Zahne finished 17th in 20:08 and Coy Begay finished out the scoring, placing 18th in 20:09.
Forty-nine runners competed, with Corey Quigley from Valley winning the individual title in 17:31. Holbrook won the team meet, scoring 47 points. Many Farms was second with 52 followed by Blue Ridge with 57. Seven complete teams competed.
Col’Bi Nez paced the girl’s team, finishing in fifth overall with a time of 23:01. Miya Tom was 11th in 24:19 and Tanisha Yazzie placed 20th with a time of 25:55.
Valley’s Chelena Betoney won the race with a time of 21:53. Alchesay won the team title, scoring 50, followed by Blue Ridge with 53 and Many Farms with 72.
In the junior varsity races, the Holbrook boy’s team fared well. Roy Begay was second in 21:15; Keaton Clark, third; Ryan Bia, fourth; Alonzo Begay, fifth; and Kyle Baldwin, 15th.
In the girl’s junior varsity race, Morgan Zahne placed second in 27:58, LaShaundra Tsosie was seventh and Latanya Kinlicheenie finished in 13th place.
