Do you think that Small Stock 4-H is just flipping a rabbit, chicken, or cavy around? Well, it’s more work than that! You have to work with your animal at home so it will pose correctly so you can win. This year the Small Stock held a Quiz Bowl competition so the four teams had to know lots of information about all small stock animals and their different breeds. Navajo County 4-H kids showed great showmanship at this year’s county fair.
The rabbit show had lots of competition. Breezy Bell won Grand Champion, Alli Ingraldi won Reserve Grand Champion and Sophie Bell won Reserve Grand Champion for the junior division showmanship. The Best of Show winner was Breezy Bell and Reserve was Dallon Laird.
The poultry show had lots of competition also. The winners of the poultry showmanship were Megan Lawler, Junior Grand Champion; Gretchen Knox, Junior Reserve Champion; Parker DeLisle, Pee Wee Grand Champion; and Quinton Lawler, Pee Wee Reserve Grand Champion. The Best of Show winner was Dalton DeLisle.
The winners of the cavy showmanship junior division were Hanna Hughes, Grand Champion; and Broghan Hanson, Reserve Grand Champion. There was excellent posing competition and the final decision was hard to make.
The Round Robin winners were Brandee Wadlow, Grand Champion; and Hazel McGuffin, Reserve. Round Robin means they have to show a goat, rabbit, cavy, and a chicken; therefore, they have to know proper handling skills of many animals.
As you can see the Navajo County 4-H Small Stock members did a great job with their animals this year at the county fair.
