Joyce Reading Smith Turley passed away quietly in her sleep during the night of Oct. 15-16, 2012. Funeral services were held Oct. 20 at the LDS Lakeshore Ward Chapel in Tempe. Internment was in San Pedro, Calif.
Joyce will be greatly missed for her wonderful musical talents, her caring spirit and her enthusiasm for life. She was the founder and creative director of “The Songsmiths,” a performing group that traveled all over the nation, including Washington, D.C., Hawaii and Alaska. Her influence for good will be forever felt by her family, friends and beloved Songsmiths.
Survivors include her loving husband, Frank L. Turley; one son, Dennis H. (Sue) Smith; two daughters, Jody (Daniel) Mull and Jill (Jiggs) LeMieux; Frank’s six children and their spouses; and her sister-in-law, Arlene (Ronald) Reading Belcher. Together Frank and Joyce have 34 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Smith; her sister, Lylus (Ralph) Wahlen; and her brother, Ronald Reading.
Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook was in charge of the arrangements.
