The Roadrunners wrapped up a 3-12 season with a home field loss to Show Low Thursday night in their final soccer game of the season.
“It was a rebuilding year with many sophomores and freshmen getting significant varsity playing time. We now will have 17 returning freshmen and sophomores for next year, which gives us some exciting promise for the future,” said Coach Dave Wright.
In the Show Low match Holbrook battled tough in the first half, trailing the Cougars 1-0. The Roadrunners had opportunities to score, but failed to find the net. In the second half Show Low scored twice over a three-minute span to build a comfortable margin of 3-0, and held it until the end of the game.
It was Senior Night for the Roadrunners, who recognized Jacob Baker, co-captains Shawn Gillespie and Andy Leon, Duncan Henson, Jesus Luna Rodriguez, Caleb McClellan and Nate Turley. Seniors Jesse Spangler and Gabe Andis missed most of the season with injuries.
Leon led this year’s team in scoring with seven goals and Joe Herrera led the team in assists with three.
