Snowflake’s Lady Lobos headed into the final week of the regular volleyball season in a situation where they will most likely need to win matches against two tough opponents in order to reach the Division III state playoffs. Last week the Lady Lobos split their two matches, defeating Mingus in five games 3-2 on Friday after suffering a tough 3-1 loss to Window Rock on Thursday, with both those matches played at home.
After hosting Safford on Tuesday, which came into town ranked No. 3 in power points with a mark of 14-2, Snowflake will host Blue Ridge on Thursday, Oct. 25, in a must win match if they hope to make the play-offs. Blue Ridge entered last week ranked No. 11 in the standings and also owns a solid mark of 13-2 on the year.
Snowflake entered last week ranked No. 19, and must get into the top 16 to advance in the playoffs. The win over Mingus certainly helped that cause, but the loss to Window Rock put them into a position where they need two wins this week to ensure a playoff spot. Snowflake was 10-6 heading into this week’s action.
