As the holiday season nears Winslow is planning to welcome it in with its 66th annual Christmas parade at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. This years’ theme is “Get Your Christmas Kicks on Route 66,” with the Standin’ on the Corner Foundation members past and present as the grand marshals.
The Winslow Christmas Parade draws residents and guests from all around the state to enjoy what always proves to be a joyful holiday experience. Estimated crowds of up to 10,000 have been known to be in attendance, making Winslow’s Christmas Parade the largest in all of northern Arizona.
Each year the parade includes numerous businesses, clubs, organizations, churches, schools, dignitaries and more with floats and other entries. Many see and use their entry as a way to advertise and promote while at the same time thanking the community for the support given in the prior year.
As part of the event, Second and Third streets will be lined with vendors selling arts and crafts, clothing, jewelry, toys, holiday decorations and more, including snacks, meals, sweets and treats.
Santa Claus will be visiting on parade day, too. Young children can meet with him to get a goodie bag and let him know what’s on their Christmas wish lists. He will be at the Visitor Center/Winslow Chamber of Commerce, located at 523 W Second St., from 9:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
Parade entry applications are available at the chamber of commerce, or call (928) 289-2434 and an application can be faxed to you.
