The Lady Roadrunners wrapped up the regular volleyball season with a hard fought 3-2 loss against visiting St. Johns on Senior Night, Oct. 23.
All five matches were close between two teams playing their final match of the year, as neither is headed to post-season play.
Holbrook won a back and forth first game 26-24, fell 25-22 in the second, then won another close third game 25-23. St. Johns controlled the fourth game 25-19 then took the match, winning the final game 15-13.
Shandie Demuth finished with 44 assists, 11 digs and served two aces. Corazon Alvarado added eight kills and 10 digs. Tess Baldonado hit 18 kills, one ace and had eight digs. Samantha Smith helped with three kills, three aces, one assist and nine digs. Auburn Dush added five kills, seven digs and one block. Teyah Goldtooth finished with eight kills, two assists and 11 digs. Demi Phaturos added 11 digs. Terrilyn Lester fin-ished with seven kills and 15 digs. Dena Kinlicheenie had two digs. Tilly Kelley wrapped up her season with one kill and six digs.
Overall the Lady Roadrunners finished the 2012 season with a record of 6-10 in power point contests. With just three seniors, Samantha Smith, Corazon Alvarado and Auburn Dush, on this year’s roster, the team will have several key returners with a lot of varsity experience gained this year to build on for next season.
