Both Snowflake soccer squads saw their seasons come to a close in the first round of their respective state tournaments last week.
The Lady Lobos had seven shots on goal against River Valley, but they all came up empty in a 2-0 loss to the Lady Dust Devils. Matti Scott took three shots, Shelbi Rawlins, two, and Kylee Smith and Macie Rawlins each had one scoring opportunity. Snowflake closed out the season with an overall mark of 11-9-2.
River Valley fell to Blue Ridge in the second round. The Lady Yellowjackets will face Desert Christian in the title match on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The Snowflake boys entered the state tournament as the No. 7 seed and played host to 10th seeded Show Low last Thursday.
These two teams had faced each other twice during the season, with just one goal separating the two matches. This time the Cougars held the upper hand, ending the Lobos’ season with a 3-1 loss. Snowflake closed out the year with an overall mark of 9-4-3.
Show Low came up short against Blue Ridge in the second round, losing 5-1.
