Dean Victor Thomas, 66, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at his home in Holbrook.

Funeral services were held Nov. 5 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Holbrook. A concluding service with mili-tary honors followed at the Holbrook Cemetery.
Dean was born in Monroe, La., to the late Frank Clayton and Mary Davis (Carey) Thomas. As a young boy his family moved to Lubbock, Texas, and following his high school graduation, Dean went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.
He was a veteran of The United States Air Force and served during the height of the Vietnam War.

Dean married his high school sweetheart, the former Diana Camille MacDougall, on Aug. 23, 1969. They most recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary and shared a beautiful life together. He was a loving husband to Diana, a wonderful father to his daughters and a fun grandpa to his grandchildren. None will miss him more than they.

In July 1977, Dean moved with his family to Holbrook, where he had since resided. He and his wife were able to rear their daughters, Carey and Jamie, there and considered it the best place to raise a family.
Dean was employed by the City of Holbrook as director of Parks and Recreation for 22 years, and was a friendly and familiar face to everyone who had the privilege to work with him.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Thomas; two daughters, Carey (Earl) Kester and Jamie (Scott) Gaines; one brother, Keith Thomas; and seven grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan, Alyssa, Lauren, Riley, Kayla and Kayse.

Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook was in charge of the arrangements.
