Col’Bi Nez and Kyle Chee represented Holbrook’s cross country squads at the state cross country meet held at Cave Creek Golf Course last Saturday.
Competing against 119 other runners Nez completed the 3.1-mile state course with a time of 21:35, placing her 22nd overall in the Division IV girls’ race.
Anna Long of Scottsdale Christian won the race with a time of 18:54. Nikesha Eaglemen from Ganado was second in 19:20 and Sarah MacDonald from Pusch Ridge Christian finished third in 19:43.
Hopi took the girls’ team title, scoring 47 team points. Pusch Ridge was second with 62 and Northland Prep placed third with 87 points. Thirteen complete teams competed in the meet.
Kyle Chee placed 34th overall out of 161 runners in the Division III boys’ state race with a time of 17:25.
Jake Wynn of Saguaro won the race with a time of 15:58. Robert Contreras of Rio Rico was second in 16:02 and Tracy Searle from Tuba City finished third with a time of 16:05.
Rio Rico cruised to the team title, scoring just 29 total points with four runners in the top 10. Tuba City was second with 73 and Saguaro placed third with 97.
Twenty-one complete boys’ teams competed in the final race of the year.
