Two years removed from their state title run, the Holbrook boys’ basketball team has several new faces, who hope to compete again this year.
“We have been working hard and through that hard work we hope to be able to compete with such a tough schedule. The guys have been putting in a lot of time and we expect that hard work to pay off,” said Coach Raul Mendoza.
Holbrook will scrimmage the Eagles at 7 o’clock tonight (Nov. 16) in Flagstaff. On Monday, Nov. 19, they open the season at home when a talented Coconino team comes to Muñoz Gym. Game times for both gyms will be 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
Sheldon Silversmith is the only returning senior with quality varsity experience. Joining him are seniors Brandon Bitsui, Robert Nelson, Bryan Tisi and Nathan Turley, juniors Kyle Chee, Andon Hatch, Dontae Hol-lins and Triston Zahne, sophomore Marlin Martin and freshman Miireaux Begaii.
