The Joseph City Wildcats will be under the tutelage of new head coach Scott Corum, who has been put-ting his players through practices the past two weeks to prepare for their season opener against Northland Prep on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at home.
At this point, players on this year’s roster include seniors Jaden Parra, Jacob Fields, Chance Rush and Harrison Lorenzo. They will be joined by juniors Daniel Hutchens, Austin Bushman, Wyatt Johnson, Cody Davis, Jayden Turley, T.J. Hendricks and Michael Diaz.
The Wildcats have good size and solid senior leadership with a veteran cast for Coach Corum.
“We definitely have some challenges going into this season. The boys are getting used to a new coach and a new system, which is always a tough thing,” said Coach Corum.
“We do have some key players returning, including Jacob Fields, who is our point guard and the leader of our team. We will depend on him to really push the ball and get everyone where they are supposed to be.
“Other key players include Jaden Parra, our post player, who is currently out recovering from an ankle injury sustained in football. Chance Rush is tall and athletic, and will be strong on the boards, and will be an inside presence on both ends of the floor. Wyatt Johnson will play wing and will help us defensively, as well as being a scorer,” said the coach.
After hosting Northland Prep, the Cats will have a week off to prepare for the St. Johns Redskins, who will come to town on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
