Mary E. Schultz, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, in Winslow. Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Winslow. Interment followed in Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
She was born on May 12, 1927, in Birdsprings. Mary was born of the Salt Clan for the Bitter Water Clan. Her Nali is of the Red Bottom Clan and her Chei is of the Edge Water Clan.
Mary was a teacher’s aide with the Winslow Head Start School (Northern Arizona Council of Governments) for 23 years. She was also a housewife all her life, and enjoyed knitting and cooking.
Survivors include six sons, Leo Johnson of Chinle, Franklin Schultz of Birdsprings, Stephen Schultz of Seba Dalkai, Mark Schultz of Birdsprings, Loren Schultz of Winslow and Harrison Schultz of Birdsprings; five daughters, Kathy Morris of Page, Carmelita Jodie of Birdsprings, Evelyn MahKewa of Birdsprings, Denise Molton of Indian Wells and Geneva Schultz-Sangster of Birdsprings; three brothers, Junior Nez, Dennis Nez and Kenneth Nez all of Birdsprings; one sister, Alice Begay of Birdsprings; 32 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Julius and Carrie Nezzie; her husband, Hoover Schultz; two sons, Emery and Larson Schultz; one daughter, Dorothy Johnson; and three brothers, Henry, Frederick and Jerome Nez.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
